The areca palm, also known as the butterfly and golden cane palm is the most popular grown indoors from the dypsis genus, and easy to grow.

Multiple cane like stems grow from the root system and produce attractive arching fronds, with quite narrow leaflets.

Benefits of the Palm Areca:

Tropical Elegance: The Palm Areca infuses your space with a tropical, lush atmosphere, elevating your interior decor.

Air-Purifying Prowess: It excels at removing indoor pollutants, ensuring cleaner, fresher air in your home.

Moderate Maintenance: This plant offers an ideal balance of beauty and low-effort care, suitable for various plant enthusiasts.

Bright Indirect Light: Thriving in well-lit spots with indirect sunlight, it's a versatile choice for decorating your living space.

Photographs are representative of the species and not always of the specific plant shipped. Normal variations in size, pruning and leaf structure may occur.

Sun: Direct & Indirect

The Palm Areca thrives in indirect sunlight, making it ideal for placement in areas where it won't receive direct sun exposure. Optimal conditions include filtered sunlight through sheer curtains, ensuring the plant gets sufficient brightness without the risk of sunburn. Choose a location where the palm receives bright, indirect light throughout the day, avoiding prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.

Light: Bright

The Palm Areca flourishes in medium to bright light, yet it can also endure low light conditions. Optimal placement would be in a space with moderate light, ideally positioned in the middle of a room with a standard-sized window. While versatile in placement within a room, it's essential to note that the growth of the plant is influenced by the amount of light it receives.

Water: When half dry

For Palm Acrea ensure watering occurs when the top half of the soil feels dry to the touch, typically every week in standard indoor conditions. The frequency may vary with seasons, environment, and light exposure. Prioritize underwatering to prevent overhydration, especially in brighter settings, while reducing frequency in dimmer conditions.

Humidity: Medium

Palm Areca thrive in environments with average humidity levels, although they benefit from a touch of added moisture. Consider misting them lightly each day or investing in a humidifier to enhance their growth and well-being.

Pet Friendly: Yes

While Palm Areca is generally safe to have around your home, it's advisable to discourage your pets from nibbling on any houseplants as a precautionary measure.

Pro Tip

Keep your Palm Areca's soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Allow the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings to prevent root rot, but aim to keep the soil evenly moist to ensure the plant stays healthy and hydrated. Avoid overwatering, as excessive moisture can lead to fungal diseases and other issues.

Your Complete Guide to Pot Sizes: What Size Should You Choose?

When selecting a pot for your plant, it's important to find the right size. But with all the different options out there, how do you know which one is best? We're here to help!

MyGreenscape's pot sizes chart is a great resource for finding your perfect fit. Our easy-to-read chart takes out all the guesswork and helps you quickly choose the right size for your plant.

Smaller pots are best for seedlings or small plants just starting out. These tend to be shallow but wide, allowing enough room for the roots of the young plant but not too much where they get overcrowded. Medium-sized pots are ideal when your plant has grown from its infancy and is ready for more space. These are deeper and wider than small pots, so that it can accommodate larger root systems - making sure your plant gets enough nourishment while still giving it breathing room. Large pots are top choice if you have an established plant in need of lots of space - think trees and large shrubs! The spacious depth and width allow plenty of room for deep root systems without struggling for air or light.

No matter what size you choose, MyGreenscape has got you covered, with our pot sizes chart guaranteeing you find the perfect fit every time!
